Can’t believe it, it’s been 3 days, I finished COcanal 100 miler (160 kilometers). Feels like it has been ages
. The race started at 7 am Saturday morning (April 27, 2024) and I finished at 6:24 am Sunday morning. It took me 23 hours and 24 mins (without sleeping) Not sure how I did it, but I was very happy to come home, take warm shower and sleep more than 10 hours. Going into the race, I knew it would be tough tough race for me (goal was to finish in 27 hours) to finish comfortably as I had no training, strength workout. And being sick with respiratory illness is kinda curse for running. I had a plan how to run the race and I executed perfectly, until I didn’t. To my surprise, I was running smoothly, averaging probably 10 mins per mile for 1st 50 miles (about 10 hours). Rayna, Aatish and Anju (Love u all

) came Saturday to cheer me up and power up with best food in the world #daalbhaatpower24hour With the new power and energy, I started dreaming that I could finish under 20 hours. Totally WRONG. I forgot that I had to run another 50 miles
. With the pace I was running, I knew I will have to pay the price at some point, but was surprised it took till 70 miles. Mile 70 to 85 was miserable. I could barely lift my leg… basically I was walking. So many times I thought of lying down on ground, but because of the wet trail I had to refrain. Felt like reaching 90 miles aid station took me forever. After 15 mins break… I jogged 10 miles with intermittent walking and climbed the final hill to finish line. That was one of the best relief to cross the finish line.
Though the course is flat and fast, it’s mentally and physically tasking. The never ending straight trail and if u have to do 3 times in a row… it breaks you mentally. I stuck with my plan and that helped me to finish line. I will be back to training starting next week… lots of hill training and STRENGTH Workout. 4 more months before the dream race: UTMB Finals Mont-Blanc 2024 in Chamonix, France
